24 March: JPEF Candle Light Symposium

JPEF Candle Light Symposium signifying the slogan ‘Save power, save the planet’ was organized by P.Kesavadev Trust on 24 March evening at Vivanta by Taj, Thycaud. Dr.Rajmohan(Consultant Endocrinologist, KIMS, Trivandrum) spoke on ‘Management of hyperglycemia in hospitalized patients. Dr. Harikrishnan(Associate Professor, Medicine and Hematology, Govt.Medical College, Trivandrum) chaired the session. Dr.Mathew John(Chief Endocrinologist,Providence Endocrine & Diabetes Speciality Centre, Trivandrum) lectured on ‘Upcoming Newer Insulin & GLP1 analogues’. Dr.Krishna Kumar (Consultant Nephrologist & Director, SUT Royal Hospital, Trivandrum) chaired the session. Dr.Jothdyev Kesavadev lectured on ‘Why basal bolus is superior to biphasic insulin regimen?’. Dr.Harikrishnan chaired the session. Dr.Sunil Prasobh P (Physician & Diabetologis, Associate Professor, Govt.Medcial College, Trivandrum) lectured on ‘Why glimepiride will survive: review of current practice recommendations’. The session was chaired by Dr.Krishnakumar.This was followed by panel discussion moderated by Dr.Krishnakumar. Welcome was by Gopika Krishnan and Vote of thanks was by Jayapalan A Nair. Dr.Arun Shankar and Dr.Ashwin David coordinated and actively participated in discussion. Sunitha Jothydev organized the CME. Hari Prasad coordinated the event.Mementos were given away by Dr.Rameshan Pillai, Dr.Selvarajan Chettiyar, Dr.Rajalakshmi, Dr.Balachandran, Dr.Vasudevan Potty etc.

28 March: CME at Palakkad

Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev lectured for doctors at Hotel Sri Chakra International, Palakkad on 28 March from 8-10 pm. The topic was ‘GLP1 based therapies-evolving landscape and its relevance’. The session was chaired by Dr.A.P.Radhakrishnan. Dr. Anish Ahamed lectured on ‘Clinical benefits of insulin degludec: taking therapy into the real world.’ Dr.N.M Arun chaired the session.

29 March: Public program at Pattambi

Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev lectured on ‘Lifestyle illnesses’ at the public education program organized by Manorama Arogyam at Nakshatra Regency, Pattambi, Palakkad on 29 March from 2-5 pm. More than 200 participants actively interacted. R Sasisekhar, Manorama organized the program. Free blood tests were performed for participants.

30 March: Diabscreen Kerala Free Camp at Mannarkad

Mannarkad Rural Service Cooperative Bank, E.K.Nayanar Memorial Neethi Medical Centre and P.Kesavadev Trust organized Diabscreen Kerala Free camp at Mannarkad on 30 March at Hotel Hill View Towers, Mannarkad. More than 200 patients participated in the camp and attended the public education by Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev. Gopika Krishnan spoke on injection techniques. Free blood tests and anthropometric measurements were performed. The education program was followed by free consultation and free medicines for the needy. The JDC team included Aneesa Nizam, Bindhu Raj, Santhosh, Biju Kumar, Hari Prasad etc. Sunitha Jothydev organized the proceedings. Mannarkad Purushotaman, Secretary, K.Surendran, President, Mannarkad Rural Service Cooperative Bank coordinated the camp.
