Doctor's Day Speech

Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev delivered a Doctor's Day special speech virtually to the students of MMRHS, Trivandrum

JPEF 2020 Annual International Convention, Digital.

Jothydev's Professional Education Forum (JPEF) in association with Kesavadev Trust and DiabetesIndia conducted the 8th JPEF Annual International Convention virtually on 10th, 11th and 12th of July, 2020. Zoom was the platform for the 3-day long web conference. A total of 130 faculty across the world lectured at the event.

Dr.Silvio E. Inzucchi (USA), Dr.Juliana CN Chan (Hong Kong), Dr.Tadej Battelino (Slovenia), Dr.Partha Kar (UK), Dr.Hossam Arafa Ghazi (Egypt), Dr.Nisha Nigil (Canada), Dr.Roger Chen (Australia), Dr.Thomas C. Blevins (USA), Dr.Kamlesh Khunti (UK), Prof.Kausik Ray (UK) were the International faculty who spoke in the conference. Around 120 distinguished speakers from all over the country also offered talks.

The 3-day event was inaugurated virtually by Dr.Shashi Tharoor, honourable Member of Parliament, Trivandrum along with other eminent guests. 'Shaukat M. Sadikot Oration' was conducted for the first time in memory of Dr.Shaukat M. Sadikot.Orator was Dr.Banshi Saboo, President of RSSDI, on 'Reversal of diabetes: A myth or reality?' Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev chaired the oration.

The third day marked 'Kesavadev Oration' in fond memory of the prolific writer and social reformer, P.Kesavadev. Dr.Juliana CN Chan, Professor of medicine and therapeutics,The Chinese University of Hong Kong, delivered the Kesavadev Oration on 'Young Onset diabetes- Challenges and Opportunities'. The session was chaired by Dr.Arun Shankar, Medical Director and Consultant diabetologist, Jothydev's Diabetes Research Centre, Trivandrum.

Presentations of selected oral abstracts were made. Eposter discussion was also held and the winner for the e-poster presentation was Dr.Rahul Mangalath Rajendraprasad. He presented on 'National Differences and Similarities in Youth-onset Type 2 Diabetes'.

Symposiums, orations and lectures of above 300 topics were covered in the three day virtual educational feast.



Webinar by Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev

Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev spoke in the webinar conducted by Dept.of medicine, Sree Gokulam Medical College, Trivandrum on 'Breaking obstacles to goal-role of next generation basal insulins' on July 14, 2020. The co-speaker for the session was Dr.Sunil Prasobh P. He talked on 'Diabetes and COVID-19- Empowering ourselves'. Dr.Jayakumar C, Head of Dept. of medicine,SGMC offered welcome and the program was inaugurated by Dr.Manojan K K, Director SGMC. The session was chaired by Dr.Sumesh Raj. A question answer session followed the lectures.



Completed 2nd Batch for National Diabetes Educator Program (NDEP)

The program has been developed with the objective of creating Diabetes Educators. A Diabetes Educator is a health care professional who is specialized and certified to teach people with diabetes how to manage their condition. This program is backed by Dr. Mohan Diabetes education Academy (DMDEA), a unit of Dr. Mohan Diabetes Specialties Centre and the Indian Association of Diabetes educators (IADE). This Course is being conducted in 100 pre-Selected cities/centers. The course consists of 10 modules, each module in a month for 10 consecutive months. The candidates need to appear for an online exam after attending each module. Candidates are assessed on the basis of MCQs, role plays, assignments etc. After completing the course and the qualifying exam, certificates will be awarded to the candidates. The Participants will be required to fill in the registration form and submit it at the centre. Only those candidates who are willing to attend all the modules and participate actively in the course will be enrolled.

We have successfully completed the second batch for NDEP, July 2020.

Emergency Patient Education Program: Guidance to prepare against COVID

Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev organized a COVID-19 special Emergency Patient Education Program digitally on 28 July 2020 on "Guidance for our registered patients with diabetes to prepare against COVID". Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev, Ms.Gopika Krishnan, Dr.Arun Shankar, Ms.Geethu Sanal, Dr.Ashwin David Ashok, Dr.Asha Ashik, Dr.Sajna Shijin and Dr.Yaseen Unes gave their valuable insights and advices to be considered during Covid times. Several hundreds of patients joined the virtual meeting and took part enthusiastically, clearing their doubts on the topic. The digital meeting concluded with vote of thanks by Ms.Sunitha Jothydev.

Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev Live in 24 News Chanel

Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev was live in the Encounter program hosted by Mr.Sreekandan Nair in 24 News Channel on July 31, 2020 along with Dr.George Thayil, Dr.Mohammed Asheel, Dr.Thomas Varghese and Dr.Padmanabha Shenoy. Dr.Jothydev Kesavadev gave advices to be followed during Covid times.
