The Medtronic Guardian™ 4 Sensor is now launched in India. This next-generation sensor can be integrated with either the MiniMed™️ 780G insulin pump system or for stand-alone continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) use (currently used only as stand-alone CGM in India). Similar to Guardian Sensor 3, it is a real-time CGM device, meaning, the sensor glucose data will be available on the smartphone continuously via Bluetooth without the need for scanning or any user intervention. The duration of wear will continue to be 7 days. The sensor is approved for non-adjunct use, indicating the users to take insulin based on their CGM readings alone, without using a meter to confirm the glucose levels. The Guardian™ 4 Sensor requires zero calibration. The real-time alarms and alerts for impending hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia are other notable features.
