Issue 18, April 2010
Dear Friends,

Here is now a new ray of hope for Type 1 Diabetes patients. New study indicates that regeneration of totally destroyed beta cells which generate insulin may be possible, by the conversion of alpha cells present in pancreas. This study, albeit done in mice could pave the way towards methods of producing β-cells for diabetes therapies, either in differentiation settings in vitro or in induced regeneration.

The second article describes how treatment with sex hormone, testosterone can improve diabetes in addition to an increased sexual function. There is also an article on study proving sleep deprivation leading to an increase in abdominal fat deposit in younger generation. The next article describes hypoglycaemia’s link to mortality rates in critically ill patients. It is common know how that reducing weight increases libido for the obese, but it is surprising to see the actual numbers to see the depth of sexual stamina boost, now that the results are out. Those numbers constitute the 5th article in the newsletter.

Here comes one more good news to those ardent coffee addicts! Coffee consumption reduces inflammation and increases HDL cholesterol.

We welcome you to watch the video presentation on ‘Diabetes & Liver disease’, the sixth one in the series presented by Dr.Jothydev, which we have started in our first anniversary issue.
